Practicing prayer for healing in my life has resulted in many disappointments and awkward moments
but for the few ridiculous times it has resulted in the healing of somebody’s body, all the awkwardness and disappointment has absolutely been worth it
Prayer, a deeply emotional and regularly religious boomerang which can and often does kill its senders. Was it prayer, was it a wish, was it a heartfelt cry, was it an un compassionate God, a God who is silent, dumb to unbearable pain?
Well that was a real gut punch. I think my first prayer skirmish with God happened when I was 10 and he didn’t heal my cat. Needless to say, plenty more have happened since. I’ve abstained from prayer and then prayed with utter desperation and then prayed half heartedly, holding my breath. It’s a great mystery, this healing thing. It’s wildly vulnerable for me. Nonetheless, I hope to do it all the rest of my days.
